Our Croc Adventure....
Nope...this picture isn't from a nature magazine, it is from our daughter-in-laws camera. We went up front and super close as we had our very own croc adventure. We have seen them here before but not quite like this!
Royce, Susan, and their gang had planned to go out on a fishing/dolphin tour in the ocean but it got canceled due to rainy weather. They settled for something MUCH less exciting, like crocodiles. Ha!
We drove over to a bridge that we knew about, near Playa Carrillo, where there supposedly are crocodiles. We found a couple locals who told us that there was an easy way to get them to come to the surface of the water....rope and chicken. The next thing we knew, Royce was tossing a rope that had chicken tied to it over the bridge. At one point, they threw the rope over a tree branch and lowered and raised the chicken like a pinata for crocs. Needless to say, it worked perfectly!
There were two crocs and they would sneak up and glance at the dangling chicken. Royce kept teasing them until they would come out of the water and snap.
It was interesting to see and the kids LOVED it! Royce tugged on the rope so much that it actually snapped at one point because the croc was so strong. He told us that he has had a couple nightmares since where he has imagined falling over the bridge. I am sure that none of them will forget that experience for a long time.

Munroe Trip Wrap-Up...
We had a wonderful time with Royce and his family. They were here for a little over three weeks and it was fun to have them here. These pictures are a kind of a quick wrap-up of their trip here...even though the pictures are not in order. They got some good family pictures...enjoy!

Sun and Fun in Samara....
We made it to the place that Royce has always wanted to bring his family....Playa Samara. We love this beach and have been here many times now. This is the area that we lived in a few years ago when we attended the language school after Mike's retirement. It is absolutely beautiful and we know that they kids will have a blast here over the next two weeks.
This beach is a private area that Royce and Sandi found three years ago when they went off of a motorcycle exploring for the day. It is pretty neat because it is extremely hidden and secluded. There is a swamp behind this house that has crocs in it and the grounds keeper is willing to throw some meat in there to get them riled for people.

Lasagna and laughs....
We had a nice dinner after church today. We invited Maria and the kids over to eat with our crew. Honorio has been in Panama visiting his family for a week and so he wasn't at the dinner. We are disappointed that he wont be back to Costa Rica until Tuesday because he wont get to meet Royce and his family before we leave to explore a new area tomorrow.
It was fun to see our grandkids playing so well with our "Costa Rican Grandkids."

Welcome to Costa Rica....
We welcomed Royce, Susan, and their 5 boys to Costa Rica last week. They have come to spend 3 weeks of their summer vacation exploring this beautiful country. We have had fun spending time with them and are glad that they came to visit us and see where we have been serving. Royce traveled to Costa Rica with us, as well as Sandi, a few years ago and he has talked about bringing his family here ever since that trip. Well, it has now become a reality!
